FOUNDERS' WEEKEND 2012 A RESOUNDING SUCCESS

Submitted 01-02-2012

The Founders' Day Weekend for 2012 can only be described as a resounding success.

The Triathlon on Friday was held under hot conditions, but not a single complaint was to be heard as all categories finished their races with a smile. We congratulate our Iron Lady - Bronwen Jacobs and Iron man - Stegman van Zyl, once again our Old Unionites do us proud!

Our Steak Evening on Friday night saw record crowds attending and we hope this is the start of many more steak evenings where well over 200 guests are entertained

The "Old Boy" Cricket sides and many of our Junior boys fathers' enjoyed the cricket on our beautiful fields, and  the 1st Cricket side lost  by 2 runs to the Old Boys team.  Once again fun was had by all and many a tired player enjoyed the Karoo style braai in the Union after a successful days cricket.  Our moms and daughters spent a pleasant couple of hours at a tea under the trees with cooking demonstrations and eats to die for - so moms and daughters next year, we'll see you there!

We'd like to urge as many Old Unionites to make every effort to attend these Founders Day celebrations each year in January.  This year Union celebrated 93 years as a beautiful, proud school with many more years in the pipeline.
